At the beginning of December, SRV Engels celebrated its seventh anniversary - a milestone in a journey that is far from over. When Suzanne began her training at ITV in Utrecht in 2014, she had no clear idea where it would lead her. In the years prior, she had enjoyed working as the editor-in-chief of her charity’s monthly newspaper, Het Doordewijkertje, and wanted to apply those editorial skills in English as well.

After three years of training, she became a certified English translator, qualified to translate both into Dutch and English, with English officially recognised as her second native language. During her studies, she was introduced to machine translation—an area she has been engaged with ever since. Today, machine translation is an essential tool for translators, though it is still far from producing flawless results without human oversight. In recent years, Suzanne has increasingly focused on editing machine translations, a task she thoroughly enjoys.
